Considerations for Loto applications

Lockout Tagout safety procedures must be established, and operations and procedures for shutting down machinery and equipment and controlling potentially hazardous energy sources are required when performing repair or maintenance activities.

Employees must be trained in Lockout tagout prior to operation.

Outsourcing suppliers must also be aware of your company’s LOTO program.

The outsourcing supplier must perform Loto Lockout Tagout and let your employees know when they need to perform maintenance work on your equipment.

The Loto Lockout Tagout facility must be removed by the person who placed it.

When the Loto Lockout Tagout facility is used on different shifts, it is important to communicate and handover.

Regular inspection

Is the person trained to perform the “locking” properly qualified

Whether the locks and locking auxiliary devices and signs meet the safety requirements and are properly managed, and whether the locks are used for personal use

Are there alternative security measures for debugging and other exceptions

Whether the communication in the actual implementation is sufficient, whether the measures are carried out in strict accordance with the procedures, and whether there are corresponding working procedures.

The “Energy Isolation Information Board” shall be erected on site — the designated storage place for equipment locks, the centralized locking point for employees, the obtaining of relevant written program documents, the obtaining of standby hangtags, the visual isolation point chart, the information of authorized employees on duty and the information of the procedures used shall be publicized.
