LOTOTO locks vs. administrative locks

LOTOTO locks vs. administrative locks

Locks and signage used in LOTOTO must be clearly distinguished from all other management locks (e.g., state of the art locks, equipment supervisor locks, security locks, etc.). Don’t mix them.
LOTOTO‘s special case
When performing some test operations, such as the positive and negative motor rotation test, it is necessary to temporarily switch on the power supply for testing. In this case, procedures need to be established to ensure that adequate safety measures are taken to avoid injury caused by the temporary disarming of LOTOTO during testing with LOTOTO.
Director
A person who is responsible for controlling equipment that needs to be locked and flagged and for ensuring that all necessary controls are put in place to ensure safe maintenance of the equipment, usually by production operations personnel (e.g., operator, squad leader, and duty squad leader, etc.)
Responsibility of supervisor
Procure or modify suitable equipment for executing LOTO program locks.
Ensure that LOTO programs are executed within its jurisdiction.
Employees undergo initial training and annual retraining of relevant procedures, and keep training records.
Ensure that people working on or near the equipment are warned before LOTO is implemented.
Implement appropriate LOTO and issue equipment specific isolation sheets prior to the start of the job.
